Provinces: Steel

The information found here will be updated every tournament cycle with the latest updates on how to fight your enemies.

The steel province is a fairly easy province to battle, The wonder Needles of the Tempest can greatly help you in this province. Your troops will be opposed by heavy melee, mage and light melee units, with a main focus on Heavy melee.

Team Evil: Marauders of the West

Knight

Swamp Monster

Thornrose Mage

Thief

Team Good: The Elvish Saints

Main Units Side Units

Archer / Ranger

Golem

Treant

Bring out the power of your Needles of the Tempest as your main units to combat this province are the light ranged units, and an increase in it's damage output is a very welcome gift.

Your main unit is the archer, it's strong agains both the heavy melee and the Thornrose Mages. It's weak agains the thieves so stay out of there range as long as possible. Add at least 1 golem if you encounter 2 or more thieves and more if needed. If you dont encounter knights you can go as low as 1 or 2 archers if needed since they can easily outmaneuvre the swamp monsters.
Rangers are a great addition to the arsenal to outmeneuvre the opponent and killing or nearly killing the thornrose mages on round one. there 1 extra movement allows you to find more often a spot to safely kill the mages without being in harms way yourself. On maps heavy on Thornrose Mages use the ranger since it has a very high defence agains them, unlike the archer. alternativly you can use the dryad on these maps. if you do not have access to the elite archer the dryad might also be considered ad a potential unit to use. especially to deal with the knights quickly

On maps filled to the brim with thieves, your the golem or the treant. Since treants have no weakness to the knights and swamp monsters they are often a good choice on these maps to deal with the single heavy melee unit. also always add a ranger or archer to deal with the Thornrose mage, otherwise your golems and treants will quickly succumb to the overwhelming numbers of thieves.

As always try to experiment with combinations of these units to find out what works best.

Team Good: The Human Defenders

Main Units Side Units

Crossbowman / Dryad / Ranger

Mortar/Strategist

Paladin

Bring out the power of your Needles of the Tempest as your main units to combat this province are the light ranged units, and an increase in it's damage output is a very welcome gift.

Your main unit is the Crossbowmen and dryad, it's strong agains both the heavy melee and the Thornrose Mages. It's weak agains the thieves so stay out of there range as long as possible. Add at least 2 cannoneer or 1 strategist if you encounter 2 or more thieves and more if needed. Be agressive with your light ranged units to attack the thornrose mage and pull back untill the cannoneer has done it's job securing the battlefield If you dont encounter knights you can go as low as 1 or 2 archers if needed since they can easily outmaneuvre the swamp monsters.
With the strategist you can play a little a bit more agressivly.

Rangers are a great addition to the arsenal to outmeneuvre the opponent and killing or nearly killing the thornrose mages on round one. there 1 extra movement allows you to find more often a spot to safely kill the mages without being in harms way yourself. On maps heavy on Thornrose Mages use the ranger since it has a very high defence agains them.
If you have access to the master crossbowman I am a fan of mixing the lgiht melee units to het the best of all worlds, the -attack power of the master crossbowmen can reduce a lot of damage. Especially from the knight who unfortunatly kan always hit you.
On maps filled to the brim with thieves, Use the strategist or Paladin. Since paladins have no weakness to the knights and swamp monsters they are often a good choice on these maps to deal with the single heavy melee unit. also always add some light ranged to deal with the Thornrose mage, otherwise strategist and paladins will quickly die to the defence breaking powers and the onslaught of the thieves.

As always try to experiment with combinations of these units to find out what works best.
